<text><span class="style2">BOUT</span><span class="style1"> this stack: while working on prototype HyperAddresses 2.2.6, I deleted a resource in ResEdit before I purged the stack script of all the resource calls. Natch, it crashed as soon as I opened it. Every successive attempt to open a stack which is causing system bombs will increase the chances of permanently trashing the stack. Rather than rebuild a backup prototype with the new development, I tossed this together instead. I KNOW there are very spiffy shareware utilities out there which do this, but I didn't have one. What it does:Button "Get Script" makes a simple call to the stack whose script you need to work on without opening the stack. You can choose the target stack, whether stack script or background script, and the name of the background if it is a bg script. The target script is transported to the target field "scripto" undeneath this info field, where you can work on it, repair it, or try again. Then, reversing the process, you click "send script" to send the repaired script back to the damaged stack, replacing it -- and, hopefully, fixing it.If you are not sure you've found all the bugs you need to fix, you might try repairing a COPY of your damaged stack in case it crashes irreparably.Very few caveats, but pick the target carefully; you only get two chances to cancel. The script is completely in the buttons in uncompiled HyperTalk, so you can inspect and modify it. It should run on 2.0 as well as on 2.1. I wrote it in the background so you can add new cards to store working scripts, if you like. I wish I knew about this stuff a year ago. Freeware; modify it as you like but if you pass it on, pass on the original with this text in it. Enjoy.Alex ForbesAOL "Phaedrus47"3-9-93 </span></text>
